Use the Facilitation Roadmap to prepare for or reflect on facilitation. Depending on your content, you can facilitate executive function skill building at all levels along the roadmap. Consider inhibitory control — specifically, thinking before acting. If you are using a text such as No, David!, Junie B. Jones, the Ramona collection, Sideways Stories from Wayside School, etc., there are numerous opportunities to dig into characters’ actions and discuss how/why they acted before thinking as well as what they could have done differently.
In any content area, you can use "Guide the student to identify a resource or approach" to strengthen working memory and problem solving.
