In the Learner-Active Classroom, students use the help board to alert their teacher and other classmates when they are stuck. However, the process of getting help in the remote learning environment isn't so straightforward.
Students may choose to stay off camera and/or muted if they are struggling with a concept. Alternatively, they may interrupt the teacher to ask a question. Or, if they are working in breakout rooms, they may immediately request help at the first instance of cognitive dissonance.
The Get Help at Home how-to sheet walks students through the steps of thinking through the information and requesting help from the teacher only when it is absolutely needed. Share this resource with co-teacher, support facilitators, parents, and caregivers so everyone is on the same page to help build students' executive function skills!
